Art Linkletter

1912 - 2010

It is with great sadness that the Christopher Awards mourn the passing of our 2004 Christopher Life Achievement Award winner, Art Linkletter, who died in Los Angeles at the age of 97 on Wednesday, May 26.

The broadcasting icon was honored by The Christophers for his remarkable contributions to the craft, business and spirit of the broadcasting industry, as well as for his work with children on-stage and off, as mentor and educator in the war against drug abuse.  His genial determination to communicate one-on-one with the American public via radio, TV and print impacted generations of Americans.  His trailblazing career behind a microphone and in front of the camera, his support of “lifelong learning” and resilience amidst personal tragedy truly reflected the goals and mission of The Christophers.

Linkletter was only the eighth individual in the 61-year history of the Christopher Awards to receive the Life Achievement Award.
