Now faith, hope and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. – 1 Corinthians 13:13
It has been written and sung about. It isn’t just a feeling, although it can produce emotions ranging from profound joy to deep sorrow. It’s sought by almost every person on earth, the greatest gift any one can receive.
It is love.
Created out of God’s own deep love for each of us, we are called to reflect that loving heart to all. In that way, human love mirrors God’s endless, unconditional, compassionate love.
St. Paul’s often-quoted masterpiece on love – Chapter 13 of his letters to the people at Corinth, Greece as found in the Bible’s New Testament – shows us the characteristics of love that allow its healing and renewing power to transform everyday life.
It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters. –Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
