TIM RUSSERT INTERVIEW AVAILABLE FROM THE CHRISTOPHERS
NEW YORK, June 17, 2008 – In tribute to the late Tim Russert, The Christophers are making a 1996 televised interview with Mr. Russert available in its entirety on our website at www.christophers.org. (View video here.)
Mr. Russert was a friend of The Christophers and truly embodied our organization’s motto – “It’s better to light one candle, than to curse the darkness” – through his commitment to seeking the truth, always with fairness, integrity, civility and professionalism.
It was our honor to have him as a guest in 1996 on “Christopher Closeup,” the public affairs television program produced by The Christophers.
Having interviewed countless politicians and world leaders over his career, the veteran newsman had the opportunity to sit in the “other” chair and enthusiastically offer “Russert on Russert” commentary on the role and responsibility of good journalism and his own approach to digging for answers.
The half-hour interview is conducted by then-Christophers Director, Monsignor Tom McSweeney.
Maryknoll Father James Keller founded the Christophers in 1945 with the purpose of using media to encourage individuals “of all ages and from all walks of life” to use their God-given talents to make a positive difference in the world.
