19th Annual High School Pro-Life Leadership Day
St. Joseph's Seminary - October 22, 2008
The Christophers participated at the 19th Annual High School Pro-Life Leadership Day at St. Joseph’s Seminary on October 22. High school students from around the New York Archdiocese celebrated the event dedicated to the Blessed Mother. Sr. Winifred Lyons, SC, of Pro-Life Activities at the Office of the Superintendent of Schools helped organize the day that included keynote speaker Chris Godrey, a former New York Giants Super Bowl Champion. Mr. Godrey is also president and founder of Life Athletes, an organization of over 300 professional and Olympic athletes committed to life issues.
Bishop Dominic Lagonegro celebrated Liturgy in the chapel at St. Joseph’s Seminary and gave the young people a heartfelt homily on proclaiming life. Afterwards, students attended numerous workshops including two led by Pam Hammond, National Coordinator for the Christopher Leadership Courses. Over fifty students participated in two lively sessions entitled “Teens Involved in the Public Forum.” The high school students learned practical public speaking tips and how to build self-confidence. By the end of each session, student volunteers put their skills into action by giving short talks in front of the entire class. Great going everyone!
