This month, The Christophers will take part in the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress from February 20th to 23rd. It’s an annual gathering of Catholics from across the nation and around the globe for four days of learning and networking among educators and those who work in support of educators in the faith. We always cherish the opportunity to interact with these great servants and to share our materials with them so they can be put to good use with the younger generation.

Our latest prayer card is entitled ‘A Christopher Prayer for Today’ and will be available next month. It provides a beautiful meditation on the appreciation we should have for each moment in life as a profound gift from God that points us towards the joy of eternity. And our latest News Note, Respect Those Who Labor Among You, explores the dignity of work and the importance of those who bring their talents into the workplace to improve society.

We are also excited to share that Father Cedric Pisegna, C.P., an Ambassador of Goodwill for The Christophers, just released a brand-new video series Victory in Jesus! airing on YouTube and on his website. Father Dougherty’s ‘Light One Candle’ columns for this month focus on the Feast of the Presentation, which falls on February 2nd, and the Feast of Blessed Fra Angelico on February 18th. For the Presentation, Father Dougherty highlights the roles of Saint Simeon and Saint Anna, who both herald the importance of the moment and whose presence in the story reinforces the message of God’s love for the elderly and those who are often marginalized.

Blessed Fra Angelico was a Dominican friar and painter of the early Italian Renaissance, known for the beautiful work he did for churches and religious houses throughout Italy. Father Dougherty writes, “In his life and work, Fra Angelico demonstrates how the arts can work in service to the faith to illuminate the figures, stories, and principles at the heart of scripture. May Fra Angelico intercede for all artists to draw closer to Christ so their work can reveal truth to all people and inspire us to see the beauty of creation and the faith given to us to discover God’s love.”
